A photo posted by President Barack Obama on his Twitter and Facebook pages after his victory in the elections was taken by American photojournalist of Armenian origin Scout Tufankjian.

Scout was one of the photojournalists working with Obama during his campaign. In an interview with Slate, Tufankjian said Facebook’s most-liked ever photo was taken back in August.

“I decided to focus on them rather than taking a wider shot, because I think I’m not alone in finding their relationship to be totally aspirational. The obvious love and respect that they have for each other, and that the relationship is clearly one of equals, despite the fact that he’s the president, is remarkable,” she told the magazine. 

Tufankjian said she did not know that the photo would be used in Obama’s victory tweet. The photojournalist said Obama is much happier and more relaxed when he is with his family.

“I mean, I don’t know any of this for sure. But when he’s around his family, he seems the happiest that you ever see him. He and the first lady are so focused on each other,” she told the Slate magazine.
