EU will not impose new sanctions against Iran until UN Security Council calls for doing so, EU FMs stated at the Brussels session on Jan.25.
In the course of the meeting on Tehran’s nuke program Foreign Ministers said that will back any sanction against Iran if the world powers support them.
According to Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, application of sanctions will stalemate the issue, thus they should be used with great caution.
EU seeks to get Iran back to negotiating table and find a diplomatic solution and “if there are any sanctions that might lead to this, I am ready to consider them,” Bildt emphasized.
In addition, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani informed last Sunday that optimal solution on Iran’s nuke program can be identified if the West and U.S. hold “sincere” talks with Islamic Republic, Press TV reports.
