YEREVAN. – The Presidential Palace promises what’s most real to the employees of Armenia’s Nairit Rubber Factory, stated a group from latter’s workers, after coming out from a meeting with Hovhannes Hovsepyan, Head of the Presidential Control Service.

“They informed us that they will pay the two-month salary by December 15 and the third salary is planned [for payment] in January. But we asked that the three salaries be [paid] no later than December,” one of the aforesaid workers told around 400 factory employees who were protesting in front of the Presidential Palace. 

In his turn, Trade Union Organization Head Hrach Tadevosyan told news reporters not to politicize this issue. “Nairit is purely a social matter and it does not cooperate with any [political] party,” he stressed, and added:

“[And] With respect to the [matter of] factory resuming operations, they said Nairit’s contract issue will be resolved by December 20. The talks are in progress with Itera organization. If the contracts are signed, activities will be carried out toward resuming operations.”   

Also, Hrach Tadevosyan recalled that the total number of Nairit workers is 2,800, but two-thirds of them are still laid off.  

To note, several hundred employees from Nairit Rubber Factory gathered across the Armenian Presidential Palace Monday demanding the payment of about a year’s salary.
