“At this point it’s hollow to speak of IT development in Armenia and those who do so simply wish to raise their rating,” Executive Director of the Union of IT Enterprises Karen Vardanyan told NEWS.am-Innovation. He underlined IT sector in Armenia does not output anything that says: “Made in Armenia.”
How can anyone assert that IT in Armenia plays first fiddle in the region, let alone in the world, Vardanyan wonders, adding that our country is far behind Georgia and Azerbaijan in this regard. To his mind, large number of IT experts in Armenia disables country to reach competitive level around the globe.
“Overall there are over 6.000 engineers in here, whereas in India, world IT leader – 100.000. There is nothing to compare!” the Director outlined. Our programmers mainly provide semi-finished product, which is part of the program. At that 60% is exported and 40%-in domestic market, Vardanyan concluded.
