YEREVAN. – Certain preconditions are created in Armenia to conduct bone marrow transplantations, Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) charitable foundation director, Dr. Mihran Nazaretyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the entire ten-year activity of ABMDR pursues the objective of conducting bone marrow transplants in Armenia

“[But] In order for such surgery to be possible [in Armenia], the level of the country’s public health, research, and diagnostics must meet certain standards. It was impossible to even speak about such possibility in Armenia in the 1980s and 1990s. Today, however, this is quite real because there is certain funding, comprehension of the matter, [and] also, understanding of the demand,” the physician noted.

In Mihran Nazaretyan’s words, Armenia also has corresponding specialists and medication supplies, and therefore this matter can be resolved in a foreseeable future.
