Armenia's Ministry of the Environment is proud to have reported the completion of the hunting season on wolves. Armenian hunters managed to get as many as 179 wolf pelts this year comparing to 95 in the last one. Each pelt is estimated at 100 thousand AMD ($250).

Trends are consistent with stated objectives: if last year 100 pelts were allowed to be taken, this year there were 200. According to the report, the pelts are sent to the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology to supplement the scientific collections and research.

Judging by the numbers and trends, Ministry of Environment of Armenia is aiming to exterminate all the wolves in the country. Why scientific institution need so many wolf pelts is not clear. One thing is clear: if this trend goes on, soon the wolves will be found only in scientific collections, and even then only in the form of stuffed animals.
