YEREVAN. – People, having no idea on astronomy, come to propose the theory on the end of the world, Armenian astrophysicist Areg Mikaelyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, the Earth, the Moon and the Sun align on the same axis quite often and every time it does not mean the end of the world is approaching. The alignment occurs during the lunar or solar eclipse, which takes place once or twice annually, however, it does not lead to a shift of Earth’s axis.

In addition, the expert stated that no anomalous astronomical phenomena, which could allegedly lead to the destruction of the Earth, are expected in the near future.
