Consumers Association of Armenia will check the quality of eggs and chicken. The samples have been collected from retail outlets and have been sent to the laboratory for analysis of the representatives of the association. As the chairman of the Association Armen Poghosyan noted, the checks were initiated prior to the New Year trading period.
“On New Year retail turnover grows at least by 2.5 - 3 times. The influx of goods in shops increased. Based on this, we consider it necessary to check their quality,” Poghosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter.
The products were collected from a number of shops in the Yerevan city center and Arabkir region, with samples from all the major poultry farms, as well as imported (included two Brazilian) brands. The products are going to be analyzed in three laboratories in Yerevan - the National Institute of Standards, the State Service for Food Safety and “Narek” CJSC. The samples will be screened for common bacterial contamination and salmonella, as well as pesticides. The results will be obtained and made public by the Association in a few days.
