Armenia’s parliamentary elections were the key event of 2012, President Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel.

Speaking about the key events, he also pointed out elections of local self-government bodies. President Sargsyan noted he is happy about results of the parliamentary elections.

Armenian leader recalled he was heading the proportional list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, stressing the elections were held in the atmosphere of competitions. 

“I am happy about properly held elections, the positive response of the world community and the fact that our party has majority of seats in the parliament,” he emphasized.
