The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in the interview with Russia 24 TV channel said that for 20 years Armenia lives in conditions of blockade, as Turkey and Azerbaijan create blockade, and the country lives and grows in these conditions.

Responding to the observation of the Russian media that the development occurs in very difficult conditions, the Armenian president agreed.

“We develop in extremely difficult conditions and we do not even have a direct railway link with Russia, and other CIS countries. This means that our exporters are in disadvantage to others. Well, it turned out that way, it was fate, we are used to these conditions, and try to develop those sectors of the economy that are competitive, and that do not interfere with the transport component,” Sargsyan said.

According to him, Armenia was traditionally advanced in mining industry, but the development of the mining industry is heavily dependent on world prices for metals, so Armenia was forced to diversify, but now in Armenia, not only according to Armenian estimates, modern technologies, in particular, information technologies, are very developed and during past 5 years Armenia managed to triple the production in this industry.

As the president noted, the sphere creates high-paying prestigious jobs.

“About 100 such companies now exist in Armenia, and these companies employ over 10,000 people. For small Armenia it is a solid sphere,” the president said.
