Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nikoloz Vashakidze has handed in resignation explaining it by inconsistency with foreign policy line of the country.

Vashakidze has been working in Foreign Ministry for many years and preserved the post in a new cabinet.

Talking to GHN agency, Vashakidze said his decision is also conditioned by recent statement of Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili made in Armenia. He stressed it is a matter of principle. However, it is not specified which decision made him resign.

During his trip to Yerevan, Ivanishvili gave a pledge to solve problems of Georgian Armenians, spoke about peaceful resolution of Karabakh conflict, promised to take efforts into re-opening of railroad link via Abkhazia.

In his turn, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili stated promotion of the re-opening of Abkhaz railroad raises questions about Georgia’s strategic orientation.
