Not only the state government but also the local authorities should take care of creating new jobs, stated the incumbent Armenian president and the presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan during his speech in Noyemberyan region. According to him, poverty should not be an uncomfortable and closed topic to discuss.

“Before, we did not want to touch on the topic of our friends and neighbors living in poverty, in a modest house. In the order of things, probably, the government is blamed for not creating the conditions for a working man to create the necessary conditions for their families with decent work. Therefore, our social and economic policies should be aimed at eliminating the causes of poverty. We cannot solve these problems by distributing pensions and benefits. I have often talked about it, and I say this now: benefits are only for those who are not able to work. What this means is that healthy people, who have arms and legs, but do not work, often think it would be great to have benefits from the government! It is quite another thing, when a person of respectable age thinks so.

At the same time, we should think about creating jobs, especially in the former industrial cities. The unemployment is the main cause of emigration. From a small town people often come to Yerevan, and not finding a good job, go abroad. From this point of view, I think it is important to continue the program of decentralized development of Armenia, and to create favorable conditions for small and medium businesses. Of course, community leaders must consider the creation of new job as the most important task for them. However, unfortunately, many of them blame for this problem the state authorities,” said President Sargsyan.
