YEREVAN. – Armenian opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian’s—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote—and his supporters’ march toward capital city Yerevan’s Myasnikyan statue has ended (photo). 

Following his open-air press conference in Liberty Square on Friday, Hovannisian—who was joined by his wife, son, Heritage’s several representatives, and supporters—holding flowers, held a silent and peaceful march toward the statue. The police oversaw the procession and ensured the safety of the participants.

Upon arrival to the Myasnikyan statue, Hovannisian and his supporters placed flowers and paid respects to the memory of the ten citizens who had died during the tragedy that occurred nearby the area on March 1, 2008.    

Incidentally, on the same day Raffi Hovannisian will also attend a church mass to be served in memory of these victims.
