Iran has sent a note of protest to Azerbaijan in protest against conference titled “The future of contemporary South Azerbaijan” organized in Baku by the South Azerbaijan National Freedom Front.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov was summoned to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, APA agency reported, quoting Radioferda.

The letter handed over to the Ambassador by Iranian Deputy FM Abbas Aragchi said that views against Iran’s territorial integrity and Tehran authorities were expressed at the event. It was noted that the Azerbaijani state did not take necessary measures to prevent the event, agency says.

“Threatening, false reports were sounded against Iran at the event. This serves only the interests of Zionists. Such a conference can not be justified,” said Aragchi.
