Armenian brothers previously involved in drug trafficking scandal in Kenya made a fuss in the Maldives. Their presence in the Maldives was even discussed during the parliament session on Tuesday.

Artur Margaryan and Artur Sargayan started investing in the Maldives last October, haveeru.com website reported. They established ‘Artur Brothers World Connections’ and were pictured with Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb and Defence Minister Nazim. Both officials denied any links to brothers.

During the parliamentary hearings, some lawmakers said their presence in the Maldives is a threat to country’s national security.

The opposition MPs pointed at top government officials, while pro-government legislators said brother had entered the Maldives during the former government.

Earlier “Artur brothers” were involved in a scandal in Kenya. They were said to have close links with powerful offices in government.
