Introduction of information society concept will be fully completed by 2012, said Head of High-Tech and IT Department at RA Economy Ministry Vache Kirakosyan at March 3 press conference.

He added that the program will be implemented in three directions. The level of computerization in Armenia should be increased, broadband Internet network build up, as well as level of electronic security and management improved. According to Kirakosyan, certain points of the elaborated concept are being realized. “Last year ‘Computer for everyone’ program was launched and its full implementation is scheduled for 2010. We will work over the price policy under the project to make computers more affordable,” Kirakosyan stressed. He noted that elaboration of high-speed Internet network in Armenia will be completed shortly and works on its creation will launch. IT Department Chief informed that Internet speed will be 100 megabit.

Arman Kuchukyan, Engineering Manager of the Yerevan Scientific-Research Institute of Mathematical Machines and head of strategic group of national council on IT development informed that within last 50 years Armenia has not implemented such an ambitious program on IT development. “If we do not face financial problems, project implementation will be smooth,” Kuchukyan emphasized.
