This time Baku is alarmed not with Karabakh issue, but managed to give vent to another country’s bile and bogged down itself. The regular psychosis of Azeri and Turkish political analysts was begot by Iran’s official statement on readiness to provide nuclear fuel to new Armenian Atomic Power Station in Armavir within next years. Apparently, the hysteria on possible supplies of Iranian uranium to Armenia will yet fade in; however, it will affect in no way development of Armenian-Iranian strategic cooperation bound by mutual political and economic interests.

So what incited violent reaction in Baku? Tehran Times daily reported merely of the possible nuclear supplies to Armenia quoting Western Azerbaijan province (Iran) governor Rahim Korbani.

“Iran is ready to supply nuclear fuel to neighbors attempting to improve its nuclear know-how,” he said at the Urmiya meeting with Armavir governor Ashot Ghahramanyan. Korbani also pointed out that large Armenian community residing in Western Azerbaijan province will further friendly relations between the countries.

Quite innocuous remarks concerning only two countries of the region, raised Azerbaijani and Turkish political concerns and malicious attacks against the neighboring country, once again blamed for all deadly sins. As always, Azerbaijani mass media – now leaded by Turkish expert Arif Keskin – advocated the anti-Iranian propaganda campaign.

“If Iran indeed launches nuclear fuel supplies to Armenia, it makes another foolish thing and thus enables Azerbaijan, Israel and U.S. rapprochement…what are you expecting of mullahs – that are not capable of something but mean tricks. Even their nation is fed up with them,” Turkish expert of the Eurasian Strategic Research Center (TURKSAM) Professor, expert Arif Keshin told 1news.az.

Noteworthy, some of Azerbaijani and Turkish political experts tend to drawing special attention to the friendship with Israel endowing it with supreme power. Having lost the unanimous support of international mediators on Karabakh issue, official Baku decided to pin their expectations on Israeli lobby forgetting that the latter itself made a lot of blunders. Besides, Israel might not be willing to deal with reluctant to concessions and ever-unsatisfied Azerbaijan.

Statements of Turkish experts, referring to Azerbaijani mass media, that Iranian people are bored with mullahs sound ridiculous and absurd. Azerbaijan better consider how exhausted its public is with the regularly 15-minute running commentary on President’s work, and the next 10 minutes on activities of the first lady, Milli Mejlis, President of Heydar Aliyev’s Fund Head, UNESCO Ambassador, etc.

Nevertheless, Iran and Armenia will disregard Ankara and Baku when deciding on nuclear fuel supplies. After all, dogs bark, caravan moves on…
