“U.S.'s sanctions on Iran over its nuke program could lead to war in Middle East,” Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated in the interview with Associated Press on March 9.

“We do not want to repeat in Iran what happened in Iraq,” he emphasized.

According to Brazilian leader, in the course of his impending visit to Tehran in May, he will try to convince Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to resume negotiations to ease concerns about the nuclear program. The war should be avoided at any costs, he noted.
