The outcome of Armenia-Turkey dialogue is unclear, but it is obvious that its linking with Karabakh peace process will bring to a stalemate, the Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan said at the 73rd NATO PA Rose-Roth seminar in Yerevan.

“Linking of Armenia-Turkey reconciliation with Karabakh peace process by Turkey is same as Armenia’s conditioning it by Cyprus dispute,” Iskandaryan noted. According to him, the fact that Russia, EU and U.S. unequivocally back reconciliation inspires optimism. However, the expert stressed that protraction of Protocols’ ratification jeopardizes Armenia-Turkey reconciliation prospects. “Nevertheless, opening of Armenian-Turkish border will not solve problems between the nations, but might even aggravate them,” he concluded.
