YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Minister of Defense, Seyran Ohanyan, on Sunday paid a visit to the southeastern border zone of the country.  

He toured the military bases at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and got familiar with the combat-readiness and the moral and psychological state of the military servicemen.   

Ohanyan also held private talks with the soldiers and the officers, informs the MOD press service. He noted that positive trends are observed in the army in terms of the physical preparedness of the soldiers, and the social and living conditions of the servicemen have substantially improved.   

In addition, the minister inspected the ongoing construction of an apartment building for officers. 

On Monday, Seyran Ohanyan was on hand at the celebratory events devoted to Movses village. At the beginning, the guests attended a Holy Mass.   

The minister also addressed the festive session, and at the end of the event he awarded departmental medals to several Karabakh War veterans from Movses village.   

Subsequently, the defense minister spoke with news reporters. He noted that the MOD will increase the number of conscripts at the border settlements of Armenia because in this way, aside from defense, social problems are likewise solved.    

“And the engineering equipment activities at the borders will be ongoing, [and] the army will be alert, so that the people will always be certain that we are at their side,” Seyran Ohanyan stated.
