After the talks with RA President Serzh Sargsyan in Damascus, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The officials discussed regional issues, Turkish media reports.

Earlier, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad welcomed RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s courageous decision to normalize relations with Turkey and offered help on the matter. “Syria is ready to play its role in Armenia-Turkey relations’ normalization, which will ensure peace and stability in the region,” Bashar al-Assad stated at the joint press conference with Serzh Sargsyan in Damascus. He expressed confidence that the Armenian leaders trust Syria, hence they will take immediate steps considering Armenian President’s call.
