YEREVAN. – We need to fight against the mandatory auto insurance in Armenia because it has caused the greatest damage in recent years, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan stated at a press conference on Thursday.
In Adibekyan’s words, about 500 people used to become victims of car accidents and 1,500 people used to become disabled as a result in the past, but the number of deaths dropped by 300 and the number of injured reduced by 1,000 after the introduction of the auto insurance.
“Now, however, these numbers have tripled, the people have become more careless, which led to a sharp increase in accidents and deaths,” the sociologist said.
Aharon Adibekyan added that, “Auto insurance is a good thing, but it cannot do anything good by itself.”
