YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Friday met with Ana Maria Mari Machado, the vice chairman of the National Assembly of Cuba.
Machado presented the parliament’s structure and main directions, noting National Assembly’s willingness to contribute to strengthening of relations with Armenia. In this context, the sides stressed necessity of intensifying contacts between Armenian-Cuban parliamentary friendship groups.
Minister Nalbandian held a meeting with Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz to discuss economic and trade contacts between the states.
Minister Díaz informed about his country’s interest in deepening economic cooperation with Armenia. The Ministers discussed opportunities for establishment of cooperation between trade chambers of two states. Cuban official invited Armenia to participate in an annual international exhibition held in Havana and expressed readiness to provide a pavilion for Armenia.
In Havana, Edward Nalbandian visited Cuba Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology where he held meetings with the center’s leadership and leading researchers. They discussed possible cooperation between the Center and Armenia’s National Academy of Science.
