YEREVAN. – Ukraine is a GUAM Organization member country, and there are some doubts that the interests of this organization can be compared with the interests of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). 

Armenian economist Tatul Manaseryan stated the aforesaid at Wednesday’s live television link with the theme entitled “Ukraine’s Chairmanship in the CIS.” 

As per Manaseryan, the alluring economic climate, which exists in the EU, likewise has not formed in the CIS.

Speaking on the CIS free trade zone and the integration along the lines of the Russian-led Customs Union, the economist specifically stressed:

“Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have passed to the fourth phase of economic accession, but without surmounting the first and the second phases. It is known that Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have serious disagreements with one another.” 

Ukraine chairs the CIS as of January 1, 2014.
