YEREVAN. – The four non-ruling-coalition National Assembly factions are discussing the matter of applying to the Constitutional Court (CC) with respect to the Armenian-Russian natural gas agreements.

Non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP and PAP Press Secretary Tigran Urikhanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the representatives of these factions—specifically, the Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage—confer on critical matters, including the gas agreements, on a daily basis. 

“That matter is being discussed, the [respective] decision is being prepared; once it is made, you will be informed,” Urikhanyan added.

During Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Armenia on December 2, the governments of the two countries had signed several agreements on the supply of Russian natural gas to Armenia. These agreements included the sale of the remaining 20 percent of the ArmRusGazprom Company shares—which the Government of Armenia owned—to the Russian energy giant Gazprom Company—and to repay the half of Armenia’s accumulated debts for the gas supply—, and the supply of gas to Armenia at Russian domestic prices.
