YEREVAN. – Ukrainian Maidan reckons on the support from the West. It is clear that Brussels is not ready for escalation of relations with Russia because of Kyiv events, Armenian politician said.
Davit Shahnazaryan, former minister of national security and head of Accord Center, participated in the discussions on situation in Ukraine. He believes the Ukrainian authorities are showing inadequate response to the recent development and are unwilling to launch a real dialogue with the opposition.
“I fully support Maidan and all demands they raise,” he said.
Shahnazaryan is convinced that it is impossible to deter Ukraine from the European path strategically, but there are some problems in terms of tactics. If the situation continues, the expected presidential elections in Ukraine will resemble the fully rigged Armenian elections, he emphasized.
