YEREVAN. – The Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire agreement 1,600 times last year toward Armenia’s Tavush Region alone, whereas the Armenian side opened response fire about two times less.   

Armenia Armed Forces Rapid Response representative, Colonel Andranik Mkrtumyan stated the aforesaid on Wednesday.

Colonel Mkrtumyan noted that the Armenian side answered less not because it is afraid to open fire, but since it resorts to this in extreme cases.  

The Armenian military officer informed that a decision was made, following the fatal incident that occurred on October 22, 2013, to temporarily close Tavush’s Paravakar-Vazashen motorway, to ensure the safety of the residents.    

But the road is closed to this day.
