YEREVAN. – Armenian side had active contacts and held discussions with the Eurasian Economic Commission, regulatory body of Customs Union. Armenia registered a significant progress on joining CU, says the report issues by Foreign Ministry to summarize work in 2013.

The report said a joint statement adopted by Armenian and Russian presidents on September 3 in Moscow informed about Armenia’s decision to join Customs Union and participate in the formation of Eurasian Economic Union.

“At the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk on October 24 with the participation of the President of Armenia three documents on Armenia’s joining the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space were approved,” the report says.

According to the final report, on November 6 Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Chairman of the Board of Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko signed a memorandum on deepening cooperation between Armenia and the Commission.

 “Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on December 24 took part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held in Moscow. During the meeting, a roadmap for Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space was confirmed.”
