YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan should have refrained from expressing a view on the Robert Kocharyan-Tigran Sargsyan polemics and, in this case, he would have been at an advantageous position.

Former MP Hmayak Hovhannisyan, who is Chairman of the Politologists’ Union of Armenia, noted the above-said at a press conference on Friday. 

“Had he kept silent, he would have appeared in the role of a judge who may delay the verdict. I was convinced that the president would not respond to this discussion, but my optimistic approach was wrong,” Hovhannisyan added.   

To the reporters’ query as to whether or not Serzh Sargsyan will dismiss PM Tigran Sargsyan and appoint second President Robert Kocharyan as the new PM, the political scientist responded:

“I’m sure that he will not change [the PM]. But the four non-[ruling-]coalition parliamentary forces already want to submit a request for changing the PM.” 

At the same time, Hovhannisyan expressed a conviction that these parliamentary forces actually serve the authorities.
