YEREVAN. – Armenia’s decision to join Customs Union is the country’s sovereign right, Indian Ambassador Suresh Babu told reporters on Friday.
“The decision was made taking into account the interests of your country. India, being a friend of Customs Union member states, showed interest in discussing a cooperation agreement with the organization,” Ambassador said.
At the same time, Indian Ambassador emphasized that this statement must not be interpreted as India’s willingness to become CU member. He recalled that during Indian PM’s visit to Russia, the sides issued a joint statement of intent to create a working group for studying the cooperation agreement with CU and the ways of its implementation.
“So you can make conclusions,” he noted.
