YEREVAN. – ARF Dashnaktsutyun member Giro Manoyan said the “balanced” statements of mediators on Karbakh settlement is complicity of the destructive policy of Azerbaijan.

He said the recent statement issued by the OSCE Minsk Group, unfortunately, does not give the correct assessment of events happening along the border, in particular violations of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan.

“By their allegedly balanced approach they, to some extent, give Azerbaijan to understand that its destructive policy is not completely rejected. This position may increase instability in the region,” Manoyan added.

The co-chairs should give clear assessments of what is happening and should not hide behind the balance.

He believes that aggressive behavior and statements of Azerbaijan can be retrained if the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic enters negotiations as an independent party that should be contributed by the co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group.

The Armenian side in turn, must not disregard border incidents provoked by Azerbaijan because of the fear of negative international response.

“If incidents occur on the eve of the talks, the Armenian side should announce it would not participate in these meetings,” he emphasized.

But in general, the Armenian side should respond to provocative statements of the Azerbaijani side more clearly and openly and show that expects the same assessment from co-chairs, Manoyan resumed.
