YEREVAN. – It is easier to export Armenian goods to Customs Union than to EU, Finance Minister David Sargsyan told reporters on Wednesday.

He explained that Armenia and Customs Union member states have similar quality standards based on the Soviet state standards.

It would take several years to get familiar with all EU standards if Armenia signed a free trade agreement.

“The fat is full harmonization would take time. Fundamental changes are a time-taking process. In case of Customs Union we are free from this,” the Minster said.

At the same time, he added, Armenia anyway will bring standards in accordance with the European ones, and there is no contradiction.

“This is the course of Customs Union to facilitate trade with Europe. Accordingly, we will change the standards to make our goods exportable for the EU,” the Minister emphasized.
