YEREVAN. – A total of 104,700 families in Armenia will receive benefits this year. The government discussed the respective decision during its Thursday session.
Overall, 37.1 billion drams are planned to be allocated to pay family benefits in 2014.
At the same time, there are 11,200 children up to two years of age, who will receive care benefits. A total of 2.4 billion drams will be allocated for this objective.
The basic social benefits in Armenia comprise 16,000 drams. If a child is born, the benefit is 50,000 drams. When a child is enrolled in the first grade, the benefit totals 25,000 drams. If a family member dies, the benefit makes up 50,000 drams. And 18,000 drams are allocated for the care of children up to two years old.
According to the Armenian National Statistical Service data, the minimum food basket in Armenia totaled 31,876 drams, and the minimum consumer basket made up 56,420 drams in the latter half of 2013.
In line with the current exchange rate, USD 1 is equivalent to approximately AMD 409.
