YEREVAN. – The army will not be used to disperse protest actions, Armenian Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan told reporters.
His comments came in response to negative conclusion on the draft bill proposed by MPs from the opposition Armenian National Congress. The amendment permits using the armed forces during emergency cases without weapons and ammunition.
The Minister noted that the government has several times provided explanations on the matter: army may be used during emergency situation, but protest actions will not be dispersed.
