Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction member Tevan Poghosyan, who first had stated that he will be giving up his parliamentary seat but recently informed that he will be withdrawing the respective petition, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“In my statement, on taking back my decision to renounce the [parliamentary] mandate, I weighed and assessed, for about a month, my reasons for leaving the NA and its consequences. I had no right not to listen to the advice by my colleagues at Heritage. I came to understand that the reasons for my renouncing [my parliamentary seat] are incompatible with its possible implications on the [Heritage] team, and [therefore] I changed my decision.
“Neither the renunciation of the mandate nor the changing of the already-made decision was and is a move against any person, or any force. This was an anti-PR for me and, now, I will have to work much more actively, as an MP, to bring back what was lost,” Poghosyan said, in particular.
As reported earlier, Tevan Poghosyan recently decided not to renounce his parliamentary seat. He handed over a letter to National Assembly speaker to withdraw his previous petition, the MP wrote on Facebook. The MP said he had pondered on the decision for a month and realized the consequences of his decision for Heritage’s parliamentary faction. Poghosyan’s decision to give up the parliamentary seat was announced in late December, 2013. He had explained his decision by “purely in-house reasons,” without going deeper into details.
