YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican party of Armenia (RPA) is proposing to restore the rights of the country’s shadow workers without a work experience.
National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, chairman Davit Harutyunyan of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, and several other RPA MPs have prepared the relevant amendments in the Labor Code.
RPA deputy Arpine Hovhannisyan introduced the respective bill at the parliament.
“The Armenian code [on labor] does not have fully formulated provisions which would give the employee the right to demand unpaid wages, if the employer has refused to sign a contract.
“[Pursuant to the present-day Labor Code] the employee has no right to contend with the unscrupulous employer. [But] we want to give such a chance,” Hovhannisyan assured.
She added that actual employment can be proved by a variety of ways.
