YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia adopted a strategy toward the development of the medical personnel of the country.
Health Minister Derenik Dumanyan introduced the respective program at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
The main objectives of this strategy are to improve the financial incentives of the health care providers, generate a motivation to work in the regions, and balance the ratio between the number of physicians and average medical staff.
According to the 2011 data, a total of 13,472 doctors and 18,484 average medical staff work in Armenia. It is also noted that the number of dentists has increased in the country.
