On Monday’s newscast, the international CBC, which one of Azerbaijan’s main television companies, attributed the independence of Georgia to Azerbaijan. 

During correspondent Mehriban Kasumova’s report on Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili’s scheduled visit to Azerbaijan this week, the following was stated: “The independence of Georgia is largely ensured by Azerbaijani investments.”    

Subsequently, MP, ruling New Azerbaijan Party member and “political scientist” Rasim Musabekov appeared on the TV screen. He started speaking about close Azerbaijani-Georgian relations, and the significant role of the Azerbaijan factor in Georgian economy.        

The international CBC television of Azerbaijan, which is funded by the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), was established by the Azerbaijani authorities, and to conduct anti-Armenian propaganda. Its news broadcasts are aired in Russian, Armenian, English, and Farsi. The Azerbaijani CBC television programs are broadcast via Hot Bird satellites.
