YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court has rejected the petition by a group of Armenian MPs and left its decision as of January 24 unchanged.
On January 24 the CC decided to suspend the execution of the aforesaid component of the law pending the end of hearing of the petition into the constitutionality of the several articles of the law.
On February 7 the Central Bank of Armenia issued a statement about the new pension law in connection with the decision of the Constitutional Court of January 24 for the suspension of some of its provisions.
The Central Bank noted that Armenia’s Constitutional Court by its procedural decision did not free the participants of mandatory cumulative plan from the obligation to collect payments, adding that the relevant provisions of the law on the obligation to make payments is not suspended, and recalling that the question of the constitutionality of these provisions is still being challenged.
