The United Nations (UN) Security Council met Wednesday for an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict.
Ambassador Garen Nazarian, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UN, also addressed the event.
In his remarks, Nazarian reflected on Azerbaijan’s bellicose rhetoric and its provocative actions that violate the ceasefire on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact.
The ambassador noted that the Armenian party is deeply concerned by the humanitarian consequences of the use of force, as a result of which the situation of the civilians on the border zones is getting worse.
Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UN also stressed that his country stands in favor of putting an end to all manifestations of violence, and believes that a fundamental and a lasting solution to conflicts can be achieved solely through peaceful means and based on international law.
