YEREVAN. – The tenth convention of the Yerkrapah Volunteers Union got underway Saturday in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
The Karabakh War veterans from Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), and abroad are participating in the congress.
Overall, 2,000 people are attending the event.
President Serzh Sargsyan, National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, National Security Council Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan, Armenia and NKR Defense Ministers Seyran Ohanyan and Movses Hakobyan, MPs, ministers, and members from the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Parties also are on hand at the convention.
The congress will discuss the Union activities for the past two years, and elect its new Board chairman and vice-chairmen.
The Yerkrapah Volunteers Union was founded in 1993, and it is a non-political organization. It has over 40,000 members, whose majority are Karabakh War veterans.
