YEREVAN. – Our task today is to reduce, as much as possible, the trend of economic decline in the construction sector in Armenia.

Urban Development Minister Samvel Tadevosyan noted the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday, as he reflected on the drop in the construction indicators.

As per Tadevosyan, following the global economic crisis in 2008, a decline was recorded in the construction industry not solely in Armenia, but also in the CIS, developed, and developing countries.

“A working group is already set up in this direction. We are preparing a package, in which the list of future measures is presented,” the minister said.

He informed that a 12.4-percent growth was recorded in 2013 in the construction by individuals. In Tadevosyan’s words, this year they forecast a 4-5-percent growth in the construction industry.

The minister also pointed to the creation of a technical database for buildings and constructions as a priority issue for the year past.

According to Samvel Tadevosyan, the solution of these two priority issues is a continuous process, and therefore the government has adopted both of these matters as the priorities for the construction sector in 2014, too.
