YEREVAN. – The European Union has clearly benefited from recent events, Ukraine is the main defender of European ideas, head of Yerevan press club Boris Navasardyan said.

“Ukraine is not a country that Russia can ignore. These developments will have some impact, they will become a serious challenge to Russia,” he said.

Navasarydan added that in Europe the decisions are made very slowly, while in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities everything happened very quickly.

“The decision to impose sanctions should have been made last December, not in February this year . Nevertheless, the process of recognition of the new Ukrainian government was very quick, too,” Navasardyan added.

Not much time is left for the nomination of new political figures for presidential elections scheduled for May 25, he emphasized.
