YEREVAN. – The need  to form parliamentary committee on gas issues appeared after December 2 when Armenia and Russia signed gas agreement, MP from Republican Party of Armenia Davit Harutyunyan said.

While presenting the initiative on creating an ad hoc committee, Harutyunyan recalled that four non-coalition parliamentary groups put forward an initiative of the committee, but it was not accepted.

“We agreed with the content, but the approach was unacceptable. We believe that the presented problems are narrowed, and we in turn offer to discuss a wide range of problems related to gas,” he said.

Harutyunyan said the ad hoc committee will consider issues related to protection of consumers' interests, heat output of natural gas and other problems. The committee will also deal with the pricing of 20% of ArmRusgazprom shares, gas price for consumers. Harutyunyan offered to hold meetings behind closed doors.
