YEREVAN. – Parliamentary majority rejected the initiative of four non-coalition parliamentary groups on setting up an ad hoc committee on gas issues without giving precise explanations, member of Heritage group Ruben Hakobyan said in the parliament.

By initiating formation of the committee now, the parliamentary majority stated a wide range of issues will be presented.

“We believe the committee's agenda must include only three issues: whether the agreement as of April 1, 2011 is in compliance with the legislation and Constitution, whether the gas from border reaches consumers for $204 and possibilities to find alternative energy sources till 2043,” the opposition representative said.

According to Hakobyan's forecasts, members of the committee will claim they did not have enough time to discuss all issues.

“We offer to consider the issue before the revolution, you say after. If a revolution becomes reality,  the answers will not be needed. The problem is that the authorities are trying to play for time, as there are serious political processes in the country. The leadership wants to show that the opposition is passive, while they are working,” he added.
