YEREVAN. –  The decision on joining Customs Union had to be made only by means of a referendum, former PM  Hrant Bagratyan said in parliament.

“Joining such a union that implies the loss of elements of sovereignty is possible only by means of a referendum. Armenian president is a guarantor of country's sovereignty. He likes going to Moscow and saying: Armenia is me. They do how I decide,” Bagdasaryan said.

At the same time, he noted, the Armenian leadership is trying to work in the favor of the West by implementing pension reform.

The Armenian authorities are organizing showcase events where U.S. Ambassador is commending pension reform, he emphasized.
