YEREVAN. – The civilized world needs to know about the tragic events in Sumgait, Baku, Gandzak-Kirovabad, and Marag-Margushavan, which were the continuation of the Armenian Genocide between 1915 and 1923.

“Shushi” Charitable Foundation Director Bakur Karapetyan noted the above-said at a press conference on Wednesday.

In Karapetyan’s words, as the centennial of the Armenian Genocide draws near, the Azerbaijani-Turkish propaganda machine will begin raising a higher uproar in connection with the Khojaly events.

He stressed, however, that the Armenian party does not talk enough about the aforementioned tragic events, the Armenian diplomatic corps are very passive, and they do not perform the propaganda activities abroad very well.

Reflecting on the events that had occurred in the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly on February 25-26, 1992, Karapetyan stressed that, by distorting the real facts and shifting the blame on the Armenian side, Azerbaijan commits a double crime.

Thursday, February 26, 2014 will mark the 26th anniversary of the Armenian pogroms in the Azerbaijani city of Sumgait. The Armenian population in the area was massacred for three consecutive days.
