YEREVAN. – Not everything can be made public in connection with the investigation into the March 1 case, Armenia Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan told reporters on Thursday.
Kostanyan assured that all necessary work is being done to find those who are guilty.
“It’s just that not everything can be made public within the framework of the criminal case,” he stated.
As per the attorney general, the statement, according to which the prosecutor’s office is violating the precept of fair trial, has nothing to do with the investigation.
“Here we need to talk about another principle: ensuring effective investigation; these two concepts should not be mistaken,” Gevorg Kostanyan noted.
Eight demonstrators and two police officers had died during the confrontation between the pro-government and the opposition forces, which had occurred on March 1, 2008 in downtown of capital city Yerevan. But no one has yet been brought to account for the killings.
