YEREVAN. – The concept for ensuring biological safety in Armenia will be developed by October of this year and, subsequently, it will be submitted for approval by the National Security Council (NSC).

NSC Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan stated the aforesaid at Friday’s inaugural meeting of the respective interdepartmental commission.

“The ensuring of biological safety is a priority of Armenia’s national security,” Baghdasaryan noted in his opening remarks at the event.

He also underscored the need to adopt a biological safety concept in Armenia.

The adoption of the aforesaid concept is envisioned by the NSC annual program.

The draft concept is planned to be developed in consideration of Armenia’s track-record, international accomplishments, and statistics and development trends in recent years.

The adoption of this concept will ensure the successful implementation of the commitments which Armenia has adopted and assumed pursuant to international agreements, and create major  prerequisites for ensuring biological safety.
