YEREVAN. – The Armenian government should not even think about capital city Yerevan’s Nairit chemical [rubber] plant declaring bankruptcy.

Opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party National Assembly (NA) Faction Secretary Aghvan Vardanyan noted the above-said at Friday’s NA briefings.

In Vardanyan’s words, an ad-hoc parliamentary committee on Nairit must definitely be set up.

“We must always keep the issue up-to-the-minute,” he noted adding that if the plant is declared bankrupt, this will forever bury all the questions that are left without answers.

Vardanyan considered unacceptable the ruling Republican Party’s position, according to which the setting up of the aforementioned committee should be put off until the end of the talks—concerning Nairit—with the Russian Rosneft Company.

“If we start working in fall, when the negotiations will conclude, we may lose the professional staff of Nairit,” Aghvan Vardanyan stated.
